| Martin Ranch Spring Turkey Hunting !!! |
|
Hello! Thank you for contacting us about our spring turkey hunts. We hunt Rio Grande Turkey March-April on our ranch, and the
success rate is best the first two weeks and the last two weeks of the season. Please check our
Martin Ranch Calendar from our home page at http://www.MartinRanch.com
for available dates.
The cost of the hunt is $800/person and includes three days/nights of hunting, lodging, meals, plus one Rio Grande Gobbler, varmints, and predators. You may take additional gobblers for only $400. Lodging includes comfortable bedrooms and full baths all inside central air/heat. Meals are served at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All meals are home cooked and prepared to your taste.
We
have an extremely high success rate on our spring turkey hunts, and most
hunters get their first gobbler within the first 48 hours on the ranch. The season typically runs the third Sat in March through the fourth Sun in April; however, please check our price schedule for more accurate info.
Our
hunts begin at or around noon on the first day and end at or
around noon on the fourth
day. Basically you are allowed 72
hours on the ranch beginning the moment you arrive at the ranch. Additional days are only $100/person. You may also bring a non-hunting guest with you at a rate of $100/day.
We will take you to a "hot spot" for the turkey each morning before sunrise, and you may hunt as long each day as you desire. Most of the gobblers tend to call right away at daybreak and then slow down around noon; however, we routinely see gobblers moving throughout the day.
None
of our hunts are guaranteed; however, we do offer a rainy day
policy. Should you not see or hear turkey during your stay,
you may come back at any time during the next 12-month period for
only $100/day. This gives you some latitude in case mother nature has it against you!
If you are a Texas resident, a standard hunting license is all you need to legally hunt turkey. If you are a non-resident, a Type 118 Non-Resident Spring Turkey Hunting License costs $120. You may obtain this license from Texas Parks and Wildlife or from any Wal-Mart or sporting goods store in Texas. Please allow at least two weeks to obtain your license if you purchase from Texas Parks and Wildlife. If you purchase from Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store in Texas, the wait time is only about 10 minutes per hunter. What to bring? We supply all your food, drinks, linens, and snacks. You should; however, bring any specialty food, snack, or beverage to suit your personal needs. Alcoholic beverages are not provided, so bring your own if you so desire. We provide all the ice you'll need both on the ranch and for the ride home, but you should bring your own coolers to pack any meat back with you. Of course, you should bring your own weapon, clothing, and hunting gear. Feel free to call or email the ranch for recommendations. Del Rio, at 35 miles, is the closest town in case you forget something. With over 40,000 residents, Del Rio has all the stores you might find in a small city. Please see our rules and regulations policy for
restrictions.
