Hello! Thank you for contacting us about our spring turkey hunts. We hunt Rio Grande Turkey mid March through early May, and the success rate is best the first two weeks and the last two weeks of the season. Please check our Martin Ranch Calendar from our home page at http://www.MartinRanch.com for available dates. We currently offer the following options: Gobbler Heaven Hunt -$1,250/hunter opening weekend (includes two Gobblers) -$1,000/hunter third weekend April 2-4, 2010 (includes one Gobbler) -Hunting on 5000 acres of prime turkey hunting pastures located five miles east of Martin Ranch -Includes 3 days of hunting; lodging included (accommodations on Martin Ranch) -No additional gobblers with this option -Minimum two hunters required for this hunt; maximum of eight -"Rainy Day" policy not in effect for this hunt -This hunt is self guided and not for inexperienced/novice turkey hunters
We
have an extremely high success rate on our spring turkey hunts, and most
hunters get their first gobbler within the first 48 hours on the ranch. The season typically runs the third Sat in March through the first Sun in May; however, please check our price schedule for more accurate info.
You may hunt as long each day as you desire. Most of the gobblers tend to call right away at daybreak and then slow down around noon; however, we routinely see gobblers moving throughout the day. If you are a Texas resident, a standard hunting license is all you need to legally hunt turkey. If you are a non-resident, a Type 118 Non-Resident Spring Turkey Hunting License costs $126. You may obtain this license from Texas Parks and Wildlife or from any Wal-Mart or sporting goods store in Texas. Please allow at least two weeks to obtain your license if you purchase from Texas Parks and Wildlife. If you purchase from Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store in Texas, the wait time is only about 10 minutes per hunter. What to bring? On our headquarters ranch, we supply all your linens and towels for lodging. You should; however, bring groceries and beverages. We provide all the ice you'll need both on the ranch and for the ride home, but you should bring your own coolers to pack any meat back with you. You may store your groceries and cook your meals in our comfortable cabin that includes a full kitchen with pots, pans, utensils...the whole enchilada. Be sure your vehicle is 4-wheel-drive to get around the entire ranch. Most of the ranch is traversable with 2-wheel-drive, but to take advantage of the entire ranch you will need a 4WD vehicle. Of course, you should bring your own weapon, clothing, and hunting gear. Feel free to call or email the ranch for recommendations. Del Rio, at 35 miles, is the closest town in case you forget something. With over 40,000 residents, Del Rio has all the stores you might find in a small city. Please see our rules and regulations policy for restrictions. Please let me know if we may host your hunt. I think you would have a great time on our ranch! Looking forward to your reply! _____________________ Martin Ranch 6972 Ranch Road 2523 Del Rio, Texas 78840-5933 830-395-2195...ranch 254-224-7693...cell MaxMartin@MartinRanch.com http://www.martinranch.com/ |
