Hello! Thank you for contacting us about our Hog & Ram Hunt. We hunt exotic rams Jan-Oct on our ranch, and the success rate
is about the same all year long. Please check our Martin Ranch Calendar
from our home page at http://www.MartinRanch.com
for available dates.
The cost of the hunt is $1,000/person. For this price we currently offer the following option:
Headquarters Ranch Hunt
-Hunting on our 3200 acre headquarters ranch in both high and low fenced environments.
-Includes 2.5 days of
hunting and lodging on ranch plus plus one ram of your
choice (Corsican/Mouflon/Catalina), one feral hog, varmints, and predators.
-Lodging includes comfortable bedrooms and full
baths all inside central air/heat.
-Access to cabin including full kitchen, DirecTV, computer/Internet
-Upgrade to Deluxe for an additional $300/hunter for meals served at breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. This upgrade also includes transportation to/from blinds on the ranch.
We have an extremely high success rate on our exotic ram
hunts, and most hunters get their first ram within the first 48 hours on the
ranch. There is no closed season on exotics, so they may be hunted year
round either day or night.
Our hunts begin at or around noon on the first day and
end at or around dusk on the third day. Basically you are allowed 60 hours on the ranch beginning the moment you arrive at the ranch. Additional days are only $100/person.
You may also bring a non-hunting guest with you at a rate of $100/day.
From January - March, we generally hunt all day from tower blinds, stand
hunting, or stalking. The cool temperatures make any type of hunting
quite comfortable. Exotic rams only move during the day, so night
hunting is not necessary. There are many areas near feeders where you may
also set up with a bow and take a 15-25 yard bow shot.
From March-October, due to the hotter temperatures, we hunt primarily at
daybreak for a couple of hours and again late in the evening for a couple of
hours. The hot temperatures keep the rams grounded throughout the day,
so your best luck will be at daybreak and near twilight in the evening.
Because hogs and exotics may be hunted either day or night, you are welcome to take advantage of our lighted feeders and essentially hunt 24 hours/day.
None of our hunts are guaranteed; however, we do offer a
rainy day policy. Should you not take a shot at a ram, you may come
back at any time during the next 12-month period for only $100/day. This gives you some latitude in choosing the perfect animal for your hunt.
Mouflon, Corsican, and Catalina are considered exotic animals in Texas. If you are a Texas resident, a standard hunting license is all you need to
legally hunt hogs. If you are a non-resident, a Type 157 Non-Resident
Five-Day Special Hunting License costs $45. You may obtain this license
from Texas Parks and Wildlife or from any Wal-Mart or sporting
goods store in Texas. Please allow at least two weeks to obtain your
license if you purchase from Texas Parks and Wildlife. If you purchase
from Wal-Mart or a sporting goods store in Texas, the wait time is only about
10 minutes per hunter.
What to bring? On our headquarters ranch, we supply all your linens and towels for lodging. You should; however, bring groceries, any specialty food, snack, or beverage to suit your
personal needs. Alcoholic beverages are not provided, so bring your own if
you so desire. We provide all the ice you'll need both on the ranch and for
the ride home, but you should bring your own coolers to pack any meat back
with you.
You may store your groceries and cook your meals in our comfortable cabin that includes a full kitchen with pots, pans, utensils...the whole enchilada.
Be sure your vehicle is 4-wheel-drive to get around the entire ranch. Most of our ranch is traversable with 2-wheel-drive, but to take advantage of the entire ranch you will need a 4WD vehicle.
Of course, if you choose the Deluxe Package, we provide transportation on the ranch, supply all your groceries, and cook all your meals for you.
You should bring your own weapon, clothing, and hunting gear. Feel free to call or email the ranch for recommendations. Del Rio, at 35 miles, is the closest town in case you forget something. With over 40,000 residents, Del Rio has all the stores you might find in a small city.
Please see our rules and regulations
policy for restrictions.
Please let me know if we may host your hunt. I think you would have a
great time on our ranch!
Looking forward to your reply!
